Project
Walking school bus
Project description:
Every day, Villamayor primary school students from Year 1 to Year 6 walk to school with their friends thanks to the “Camino escolar” (walking school bus) project.
The objective of this project is to offer a space for children from Villamayor to connect. Additionally, the project seeks to benefit environmental sustainability and promote a sense of safety in the town. Three different routes are managed and supervised by Fundación Plan B staff.
The Walking School Bus is a safe route that has been prepared for children from Villamayor so they can walk to school and back home on their own, accompanied by monitors. The Walking School Bus aims to promote citizenship values, such as responsibility, autonomy, sustainable mobility and environmental sustainability.
How does it work?
- There are three different routes (red, blue or yellow). Each family can choose the one that works best for them. In each route, there are meeting points where you can drop off or pick up children that come by car.
- Throughout the route, children are always accompanied by at least one monitor.
- It’s a completely free service offered by the town council.
