Project description:
Through a collaboration with the Oikos project of the Fundación Asprodes (an NGO in the Castilla y León region dedicated to improving the quality of life of people with intellectual disabilities and their families), the Fundación Plan B carried out an analysis of care networks in neighbourhoods in the west of Salamanca. The objective was to assess whether the spaces were adapted to the needs of groups, such as children, the elderly, or people with disabilities. 

Care is an essential element in the daily lives of all people, and the community plays a fundamental role in supporting those who need it. Therefore, this research focused on understanding how neighbours in neighbourhoods in the west of Salamanca perceive care and to what extent they are aware of resources and services available in their neighbourhood to meet their needs.

Research mehodology:
The study not only immersed itself in the dynamics of service and care in the community, but it also incorporated a participatory methodology. This methodology aimed to gather the voices and perspectives of the neighbours in those neighbourhoods, offering an enriching vision of what it means to care and to be cared for in a local context. 

This participatory methodology not only allowed for a more complete vision of the current state of care networks in the neighbourhoods in the west of Salamanca, but it also encouraged the community to participate and reflect on their own reality and in how they want to care and be cared for. By listening to the voices of those who experience care in their daily lives, valuable information was gained, since these people better understand the dynamics, needs, and challenges in their communities.
